Scope of the Report
The global Carbon Fiber Non Crimp Fabric market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,010 million in 2025 to US$ 1,656 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.4% from 2026 to 2032.
Carbon Fiber Non Crimp Fabric, more commonly written as Carbon Fiber NCF, is a textile reinforcement for composite materials in which continuous carbon fiber tows are laid in one or more straight, non-woven and non-interlaced directions, and then fixed together mainly by stitching, knitting thread, light binder or a combination of these methods. Unlike woven carbon fabric, the carbon fiber bundles in NCF are not bent over and under each other, so the fibers remain straighter and the laminate can achieve higher in-plane tensile, compressive and flexural efficiency. Depending on the design, it can be supplied as unidirectional, biaxial, triaxial, quadraxial or customized multiaxial reinforcement, and is widely used in resin infusion, RTM, wet pressing, prepregging and other composite molding processes.
In 2025, global sales of Carbon Fiber Non Crimp Fabric reached approximately 21 K tons, with an average global market price of around US$ 49/kg. Production capacity varies significantly among manufacturers, with gross profit margins ranging from approximately 20% to 40%.
Carbon Fiber Non-Crimp Fabric is an engineering-oriented reinforcement material in the carbon fiber composite value chain. Its demand is mainly driven by wind energy, aerospace, automotive lightweighting, marine structures, rail transit, infrastructure reinforcement and industrial composite parts. Compared with woven carbon fabrics, NCF keeps the fiber bundles straighter and allows fiber orientations to be designed according to load paths, thereby improving laminate efficiency and lay-up productivity. Overall, it should not be viewed as a commodity textile, but as a high-performance intermediate material for composite manufacturing. Customers usually focus on mechanical consistency, drapability, resin infusion behavior, width stability and batch-to-batch reliability.
Market growth is mainly supported by lightweighting, structural efficiency improvement and composite manufacturing cost reduction. Larger wind turbine blades require efficient lay-up and stable directional reinforcement materials. Automotive and rail applications focus on weight reduction, strength improvement and scalable molding at controlled cost, while aerospace and defense applications emphasize high specific strength, high specific stiffness and structural design flexibility. As RTM, vacuum infusion, wet pressing and automated lay-up processes become more widely adopted, NCF is gaining stronger process compatibility compared with conventional woven fabrics and some prepreg systems, especially in applications requiring fast lay-up, complex-shape forming and multi-directional load bearing.
The market also faces several constraints. Carbon fiber raw material cost, tow supply stability and downstream project cycles can directly affect order release. In high-end applications, qualification cycles are long, and customers in aerospace, wind energy and automotive sectors have strict requirements for material consistency, defect control and long-term performance validation, which raises barriers for new entrants. NCF also competes with woven fabrics, unidirectional tapes, prepregs, glass fiber NCF and thermoplastic composite sheets. Looking ahead, market differentiation is expected to become more pronounced. Companies with carbon fiber access, fabric architecture design capability, stable wide-width production and close process collaboration with downstream customers are more likely to secure premium applications and long-term programs.
