Scope of the Report

The global Medical Consumables SPD Services market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,613 million in 2025 to US$ 3,433 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.6% from 2026 to 2032.

Medical Consumables SPD Services under the SPD model comprise an integrated and continuing set of managed services for low-value, high-value and specialty medical consumables used by hospitals and other healthcare institutions. The service combines digital supply-chain platforms, standardized master data, receiving and inspection, warehouse and inventory operations, sorting and repackaging, fixed-quantity replenishment, in-hospital transportation, point-of-use capture, UDI and batch traceability, consumption-based settlement, operational analytics and on-site personnel. The managed process typically extends from supplier coordination and off-site or central warehousing to primary hospital stores, secondary departmental stores, smart cabinets and clinical points of use. The delivery architecture may include SPD software, barcode or RFID identification, intelligent shelving and cabinets, warehouse automation, interfaces with hospital information and financial systems, standardized operating procedures and dedicated service teams. Its principal functions are to improve inventory visibility and turnover, reduce shortages, expiry and excess working capital, support patient- and procedure-level traceability, and provide healthcare institutions with reliable data for cost accounting, compliance, recall management and operational decision-making.

From the perspective of the global supply structure, leading Chinese suppliers can be broadly divided into two groups: nationwide pharmaceutical distribution groups and specialized SPD platform providers. Sinopharm Group, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, Jointown Pharmaceutical Group and Chongqing Pharmaceutical Holdings have extensive hospital customer bases, warehousing networks and localized distribution capabilities, enabling them to secure SPD projects more readily through their established commercial relationships. By comparison, Anhui Zhongji Guoyi Medical Technology, Thalys Medical Technology Group, C&D INNOSTIC and Guoke Hengtai place greater emphasis on digital platforms, intelligent hardware, standardized operating processes and specialized medical consumables management capabilities.

In Japan, the leading suppliers primarily comprise specialized SPD groups and medical-device supply-chain companies. SHIP HEALTHCARE delivers Total SPD services through FS UNI MANAGEMENT, while AIR WATER, MEDIUS, KONOIKE Medical, H.U. Group, OLBA and KISHIYA collectively form a multi-tiered supplier ecosystem.

On the demand side, China’s Unique Device Identification system is gradually being extended to a broader range of medical devices. Healthcare institutions are required to apply UDI data in clinical use, payment, charging and settlement processes and to retain traceable identification records. This will accelerate data integration across consumables receiving, inventory management, clinical use, billing and product recall processes.

In the United Kingdom, the NHS is promoting inventory management systems and point-of-care scanning to improve inventory visibility and release clinical staff from manual inventory-related tasks. In Japan, where the outsourcing penetration of hospital materials management is already relatively high, the SPD market is continuing to expand into operating-room materials management, off-site warehousing, operational analytics and hospital management support services.
