概述

Scope of the Report

The global Gray Iron market size is predicted to grow from US$ 111,364 million in 2025 to US$ 139,804 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.3% from 2026 to 2032.

Gray Iron is a type of cast iron characterized by the presence of graphite flakes distributed throughout an iron–carbon matrix, typically containing 2.5–4.0% carbon and 1–3% silicon. The graphite flake structure gives gray iron excellent vibration damping, machinability, thermal conductivity, and compressive strength, making it widely used in engine blocks, brake discs, machine bases, pipes, and industrial equipment. The supply chain of gray iron begins upstream with raw materials such as iron ore, pig iron, steel scrap, ferrosilicon, and carbon additives, along with energy inputs like coke or electricity used in cupola or induction furnaces. Midstream processes involve melting, alloying, casting (sand casting or permanent mold casting), heat treatment, and machining performed by foundries. Downstream, gray iron castings are supplied to industries including automotive, construction machinery, industrial equipment, pumps and valves, power generation, and municipal infrastructure, where the material's durability and cost efficiency make it one of the most widely used casting alloys in manufacturing. In 2025, global Gray Iron output was about 110 million tons with 150 million tons of capacity, average prices of USD 900 – 1,200 per ton, and gross margins around 14%.

Global key Gray Iron players cover Waupaca Foundry (USA), Grede Holdings (USA), Neenah Foundry (USA), Metal Technologies (USA), Dotson Iron Castings (USA), etc.
