概述
Scope of the Report
Edge computing is a technology model deployed on the side close to the source of objects or data generation. It integrates the core capabilities of network, computing, storage and application to form an open unified platform to provide efficient services nearby. Its application is started on the edge side and can respond to network requests quickly to meet the urgent needs of the industry in real-time business processing, application intelligence, security and privacy protection. Edge computing is located between physical entities and industrial connections, or is a direct extension of physical entities. In this way, it achieves more efficient and instant data processing and service provision.
Edge computing devices mainly include chips, hardware and software. Chips are processors for processing complex algorithms, such as GPUs, CPUs, MPUs, etc.; the hardware side includes edge AI boxes and servers; the role of software is mainly to complete video processing (such as rendering, decoding, etc.) and AI reasoning (edge side chips are mainly reasoning) in combination with hardware devices.
AI edge computing box, also known as AI edge computing gateway, Edge AI BOX, edge box, etc. It has a built-in dedicated AI chip designed for running machine learning algorithms and applications directly locally. It also integrates artificial intelligence processing capabilities and edge computing functions, and can run AI algorithms such as machine vision and voice recognition directly on the device side, thereby achieving real-time data analysis and decision-making, effectively reducing the reliance on cloud servers to process data. The significant advantages of this box are: promoting the intelligent upgrade of applications, achieving faster response capabilities, and significantly reducing the demand for network communication bandwidth. Devices are usually deployed at the edge of the network to process and respond to data from Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as sensors and cameras more quickly without sending data to the cloud for processing.
AI edge computing boxes can usually be equipped with a variety of AI computing chips for different application scenarios, algorithm/performance requirements, such as graphics rendering GPU, neural network acceleration NPU, etc. By integrating AI computing chips and algorithms, the difference between edge boxes and conventional edge computing gateways or industrial control is edge computing capabilities, which are suitable for scenarios with high real-time requirements, large data volumes, and limited network bandwidth.
Different from common cloud computing, edge computing processes data at the "edge". AI edge computing box is a hardware device deployed between data collection and cloud servers and equipped with AI learning capabilities. Because it looks like a "box", it is called differently in the industry. Edge computing gateway, AI BOX, edge box, etc. all refer to AI edge computing box.
AI edge computing box downstream applications in various industries, among which smart manufacturing occupies the main market share, reaching 42.6% in 2023. However, with the popularization of smart transportation, smart communities and other fields, the market size of smart cities will reach 250 million US dollars in 2030. Different application scenarios have different requirements for the computing power and algorithms of the box. In the field of smart retail, due to the simple scenario, static recognition detection algorithms are usually used, and low-cost/low-computing-power devices are generally used. For industrial manufacturing, smart mining, smart transportation and other fields, medium computing power (20-100TOPS) can meet the computing power requirements of most scenarios. In 2023, the market size of medium computing power boxes will be US$180 million, with a market share of 55%, and it is expected to maintain its dominant position in the next few years.
From the perspective of market competition, AI edge computing box companies are currently mainly distributed in mainland China and Taiwan, China, and the market output in the two regions accounts for more than 95% of the share. The core companies are mainly Alibaba Cloud, Lenovo, Advantech, AAEON Technology, Twowin Technology, Guangzhou Embedded Machine Technology, ADLINK Technology, etc., and the share of the top 5 companies is close to 65%. There are also some new companies in other regions, such as Amnimo Inc and EDGEMATRIX in Japan, PlanetSpark in Singapore, Forecr and Eurotech in Europe.

All MarketResearchReports.com strategic research reports follow a rigorous, multi-stage methodology combining AI-assisted data synthesis with expert analyst validation.
Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
On-demand reports are generated at time of purchase, incorporating the most recent available data. Static reports are republished when underlying market conditions shift by >10% from baseline assumptions. Purchasers receive update notifications for 12 months.
