概述
Scope of the Report
The global Solvent-based Polyurethane Resin market size is predicted to grow from US$ 2,739 million in 2025 to US$ 3,410 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.1% from 2026 to 2032.
Solvent-Based Polyurethane Resin is a liquid polyurethane polymer system produced through the reaction of polyester polyols, polyether polyols or polycarbonate polyols with isocyanates and chain extenders, using organic solvents such as ketones, esters, aromatics or amides as the dissolving or carrier medium. It is typically supplied as resin solution, adhesive resin, coating resin, ink binder or synthetic leather slurry, offering flexibility, abrasion resistance, adhesion, film formation, chemical resistance and processability.
Major production bases include China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan China, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, India and Southeast Asia. China and East Asia have strong capacity in synthetic leather, footwear adhesives, packaging inks and adhesive resins, while European and American suppliers are more focused on high-performance coatings, leather finishing and specialty resin systems. Key applications include synthetic leather, footwear adhesives, packaging inks, industrial coatings, automotive interiors, furniture leather, apparel leather, leather goods and specialty surface finishing.
In 2025, global Solvent-Based Polyurethane Resin production reached approximately 900 to 1,050 thousand tons, with mainstream FOB prices ranging from USD 2.4 to USD 3.3 per kilogram. Resins for synthetic leather, footwear adhesives and packaging inks formed the core volume base, while industrial coatings, leather finishing and high-performance surface treatment resins contributed higher unit value.
The global Solvent-Based Polyurethane Resin market remains mature but not fully replaceable. Waterborne, solvent-free and high-solids systems are penetrating faster, and environmental regulations continue to push formulators to reduce volatile organic compound emissions. However, solvent-based polyurethane resins still maintain strong process compatibility and performance advantages in synthetic leather, footwear bonding, flexible packaging inks, leather finishing and high-performance industrial coatings. Their value lies not only in chemical functionality, but also in the combined balance of film formation efficiency, adhesion, flexibility, abrasion resistance, hand-feel control, surface gloss and processing latitude. For many existing coating lines, dry-process synthetic leather lines, laminating adhesive systems and gravure printing platforms, solvent-based resins remain an important material base for stable production and cost control.
Over the next few years, market opportunities will mainly come from three directions. First, the upgrading of footwear, apparel, bags, automotive interiors and furniture leather supply chains in Asia will continue to support demand for mid-to-high-end synthetic leather resins with better hydrolysis resistance, yellowing resistance and abrasion resistance. Second, packaging, labeling and industrial surface treatment applications will require stronger adhesion, flexibility and chemical resistance, supporting the structural upgrade of ink binders and coating resins. Third, high-solids, low-odor, low-residual-solvent and easier-to-recover solvent systems will gradually replace low-end, high-emission formulations. Key challenges include environmental compliance, solvent recovery cost, raw material price volatility and substitution pressure from waterborne and solvent-free technologies. Overall, the market is unlikely to expand at a high rate, but it will retain long-term demand in applications requiring high performance, stable processing and compatibility with existing production assets, while shifting toward high-solids, application-specific and higher-value products.

All MarketResearchReports.com strategic research reports follow a rigorous, multi-stage methodology combining AI-assisted data synthesis with expert analyst validation.
Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
