概述
Scope of the Report
The global SPU Sealant market size is predicted to grow from US$ 2,903 million in 2025 to US$ 4,974 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.9% from 2026 to 2032.
SPU Sealant (Silane Terminated Polyurethane Sealant, also known as Silylated Polyurethane or Silicon Modified Polyurethane) is a high-performance adhesive and sealing material that combines the advantages of polyurethane (PU) and silicone technologies. Unlike conventional polyurethane sealants that contain isocyanates, SPU sealants are modified with silane coupling agents that terminate the polyurethane prepolymer, creating a moisture-curing system that is low-VOC, low-odor, and does not contain isocyanates. The introduction of silane segments gives the sealant excellent water resistance, heat resistance, UV resistance, and anti-aging performance.
The upstream segment includes suppliers of polyether polyols, isocyanates, silane coupling agents, plasticizers, fillers (calcium carbonate, carbon black), catalysts, and adhesion promoters. The midstream segment encompasses polymerization, mixing, dispersion, de-airing, packaging, and quality testing performed by specialized chemical manufacturers. SPU sealants are categorized by cure type into one-component moisture-curing and two-component reactive systems ; by application into construction (curtain wall, bridge expansion joints, road sealing), automotive (windshield bonding, body sealing), industrial (container sealing, machinery equipment), and marine ; by consistency into non-sagging (vertical surfaces) and self-leveling (horizontal joints) ; by modulus into high-modulus (structural bonding) and low-modulus (movement joints). The downstream segment serves building and construction contractors, automotive assembly plants, transportation equipment manufacturers, and industrial maintenance providers.
The global average selling price for SPU sealants is approximately US$2,800 per ton, with annual sales volume reaching approximately 1.06 million tons in 2025. The industry maintains gross margins between 25% and 35%.
The global SPU sealant market is experiencing rapid growth, driven by increasing demand for high-performance, environmentally friendly sealing solutions across construction, automotive, and industrial sectors. The shift away from conventional solvent-based and isocyanate-containing sealants toward low-VOC, low-odor alternatives has accelerated adoption of SPU technology.
A notable trend reshaping the market is the expansion of SPU sealants into high-growth applications such as highway and bridge construction. Products like SPU-322 Polyurethane Road and Bridge Sealant are specifically designed for expansion joints and cutting seams on high-grade roads, bridges, airport runways, and parking lots. These formulations offer perfect elasticity, good resilience to accommodate dynamic joint movement, and excellent low-temperature flexibility without embrittlement or fracture.
Another significant development is the increasing adoption of SPU sealants in automotive glass bonding. While conventional polyurethane sealants have long been used for windshield installation, SPU variants offer additional advantages including faster cure times (4-8 hours), reduced VOC emissions, and no need for isocyanate handling precautions. The daily production capacity of leading SPU manufacturers has reached up to 30,000 units, serving both OEM and aftermarket automotive applications.

Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
