Scope of the Report

The global Soda Masks market size is predicted to grow from US$ 195 million in 2025 to US$ 267 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.7% from 2026 to 2032.

Soda masks are photomasks manufactured using soda-lime glass as a substrate. They are primarily used in pattern transfer processes in PCB, LCD, MEMS, micro/nano fabrication, and some mature semiconductor processes. Their core function is to replicate designed circuit or microstructure patterns onto the surface of wafers, glass substrates, or photosensitive materials using ultraviolet light exposure during photolithography. They are a low-cost, widely used, and fundamental photomask product.

The upstream of the industry chain mainly includes suppliers of raw materials and equipment such as soda-lime glass substrates, chromium targets, photoresists, coating materials, and exposure equipment. Glass substrates and chromium plating materials are the core foundations. The midstream consists of soda-lime photomask manufacturers, whose main processes include chromium plating, photolithography, development, etching, and defect detection. The downstream applications are mainly in PCB circuit boards, LCD displays, MEMS devices, microfluidic chips, educational and research photolithography, and mature semiconductor processes. High-density PCBs, Mini LED displays, and MEMS sensors are currently experiencing the fastest growth in demand.

In 2025, global sales of soda mask sheets reached 266,000 pieces, with a production capacity of approximately 380,000 pieces. The average selling price was US$750 per piece, and the average gross profit margin was 30%-40%.

In terms of products and technology, the soda mask industry is upgrading towards larger sizes, higher linewidth precision, and lower costs. Compared to quartz masks, soda glass substrates are cheaper and easier to process, thus maintaining strong competitiveness in PCB and general display fields. In the future, the industry will further improve chrome plating uniformity, pattern precision, and defect detection capabilities, while combining laser direct writing and automatic inspection technologies to enhance its capabilities in mid-to-high-end displays and MEMS applications.

Regarding the policy environment, the global electronics manufacturing supply chain shift, PCB localization, and display panel capacity expansion are driving the growth in demand for soda masks. China's continued support for the development of the PCB, display panel, and MEMS industries in recent years has also spurred the expansion of domestic mask companies. At the same time, the shift of electronics manufacturing to Southeast Asia and the growth of automotive electronics are creating new demand for mature process masks. However, increasingly stringent environmental regulations on glass processing, chemical etching, and coating processes are increasing the industry's environmental costs.
