Scope of the Report

The global Server Cooling Fans market size is predicted to grow from US$ 279 million in 2025 to US$ 417 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.1% from 2026 to 2032.

Server Cooling Fans are active thermal management devices installed inside server chassis, power supply units, and other server subsystems. They generate forced airflow to remove heat produced by CPUs, GPUs, memory modules, storage devices, power supplies, and other electronic components, thereby maintaining safe and stable server operating temperatures. These products typically use brushless DC motors and mainly include single-rotor axial fans, counter-rotating axial fans, and centrifugal blowers. Common functions include high-airflow and high-static-pressure operation, variable-speed control, operating-status monitoring, fault alarms, and hot-swappable replacement. This market excludes data center facility-level air-conditioning systems, cooling towers, liquid cooling cold plates, coolant distribution units, and cooling fans used in non-server equipment such as network switches.

Server cooling fans generally use brushless DC motors. Most products are rated at 12 V, while some high-power servers use 24 V or 48 V fans. By structure, server cooling fans can be divided into single-rotor axial fans, counter-rotating axial fans, and centrifugal blowers. The upstream supply chain primarily includes ball bearings, magnetic materials, enameled copper wire, electrical steel sheets, engineering plastics, driver ICs, Hall sensors, MCUs, PCBs, connectors, and wire harnesses. Motors, magnetic materials, and windings account for approximately 25%–30% of total production costs, bearings for 15%–20%, drive circuits, PCBs, and connectors for 15%–20%, engineering plastic components such as impellers and frames for 10%–15%, and labor, equipment depreciation, testing, packaging, and manufacturing losses for a combined 20%–25%. Since server cooling fans must operate continuously at high speeds, they have significantly higher requirements for bearing life, magnetic material stability, impeller strength, and electronic control system reliability than ordinary consumer electronics cooling fans. Midstream manufacturing processes mainly include motor design, stator winding, rotor and magnetic ring assembly, bearing press-fitting, impeller and frame injection molding, drive circuit board assembly, final assembly, dynamic balancing, burn-in testing, and airflow, static pressure, noise, and vibration testing. A typical automated production line for standard single-rotor axial fans has an annual production capacity of approximately 2–4 million units. High-speed or counter-rotating server fans require two motor systems and more stringent dynamic balancing and reliability testing, resulting in a typical annual production capacity of approximately 0.8–1.5 million units per line. Actual production capacity varies depending on product size, automation level, shift arrangements, testing time, and customer certification requirements. By server form factor, server cooling fans are mainly used in rack servers, blade and modular servers, and tower servers. Rack servers account for more than 80% of server cooling fan revenue and represent the largest application segment. Generally, 1U servers use 40 mm high-speed fans, 2U servers mainly use 60 mm fans, while 3U, 4U, and other high-capacity systems more commonly use 80 mm or 92 mm fans. AI servers, GPU servers, and high-performance computing servers are typically rack-mounted. However, their higher internal power density and airflow resistance require more high-speed, high-static-pressure fans. Some high-end products already operate at speeds exceeding 30,000 RPM, while counter-rotating designs provide greater static pressure and airflow to meet the cooling requirements of high-density GPU servers. Global server cooling fan production capacity is mainly concentrated in mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, and Southeast Asia. Major manufacturers include Delta Electronics, Nidec, SANYO DENKI, SUNON, MinebeaMitsumi, Asia Vital Components, and ADDA. Competition depends not only on production capacity and pricing but also on high-speed motor design, impeller aerodynamics, bearing life, vibration and noise control, PWM speed regulation, fault monitoring, joint product development with customers, and global delivery capabilities. Server brands generally qualify two or more suppliers. However, the high-end AI server cooling fan market remains concentrated among a limited number of manufacturers with strong high-static-pressure product development and mass-production capabilities. In terms of profitability, standard products generally have gross margins of approximately 18%–25%, customized server fans approximately 25%–35%, and high-end AI server and counter-rotating products approximately 30%–40%. The industry’s overall gross margin is generally approximately 25%–32%. Future development of the server cooling fan industry will be primarily driven by demand for AI servers, GPU servers, high-performance computing, cloud computing, and data center server replacement. Product technologies will continue to develop toward higher airflow and static pressure, higher rotational speeds, lower power consumption, reduced vibration, intelligent speed control, digital communication and monitoring, and predictive maintenance. The development of liquid cooling will reduce the reliance of some CPUs and GPUs on chassis-level air cooling. However, liquid-cooled servers still require fans to cool memory, power supplies, storage devices, and other auxiliary components. Therefore, over the short to medium term, server thermal management systems are more likely to adopt a hybrid architecture combining liquid cooling for core components with air cooling for auxiliary components, rather than completely replacing server cooling fans with liquid cooling.
