50Ω BNC Connector is a miniature quick connect/disconnect RF connector for coaxial cables. It is designed to maintain the characteristic impedance of the cable. It is commonly used for video and RF connections with a frequency range of up to 2 GHz and voltages up to 500 volts. The connector has a twist-locked design with two lugs mated to a slot on the connector of the female part to the housing of the male part. This type was first introduced in military radio equipment in the 1940s, and later became widely used in radio systems and became a common video connector.
