Overview
Scope of the Report
The global Ammonium Metavanadate market size is predicted to grow from US$ 661 million in 2025 to US$ 1,045 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.1% from 2026 to 2032.
Ammonium metavanadate is a white or pale yellow crystalline powder, belonging to the inorganic salt family. It is slightly soluble in cold water, soluble in hot water and dilute ammonia, and is toxic. It is commonly used as an analytical reagent, catalyst, drying agent, mordant, and raw material for the production of vanadium pentoxide.
Upstream production mainly relies on the processing of vanadium-titanium magnetite, vanadium extraction from coal shale, and the recycling of secondary resources (such as spent catalysts and petroleum coke). The core process includes sodium/calcification roasting, leaching, and purification, followed by ammonium precipitation to obtain ammonium metavanadate.
Global sales in 2025 were approximately 70,000 tons, with an average selling price of US$9,653 per ton. The industry's gross profit margin is between 20% and 30%.
With the explosive growth in global demand for long-term energy storage, ammonium metavanadate is no longer merely an intermediate precursor for vanadium pentoxide, but has become a key source determining the purity and performance of the electrolyte in vanadium redox flow batteries. In the energy storage field, vanadium redox flow batteries, with their extremely high safety, ultra-long cycle life, and permanently recyclable electrolyte, have become the preferred choice for megawatt-scale independent power plants, directly leading to a logarithmic increase in the demand for energy-grade ammonium metavanadate. The greening breakthroughs in the "vanadium extraction from stone coal" process and the industrialization of waste catalyst recycling technology have significantly broadened raw material supply channels and reduced dependence on single vanadium-titanium ore resources.
