Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Automotive Long Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic market size is predicted to grow from US$ 4,437 million in 2025 to US$ 6,770 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.3% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of automotive long glass fiber reinforced plastics are projected to reach 1.6 million tons by 2025, with an average price of $2,833 per ton.

Automotive short glass fiber reinforced plastics (LGF) use continuous or quasi-continuous glass fibers with a length of 10–25 mm as the reinforcing phase and thermoplastic resins (PP, PA, PBT, ABS, etc.) as the matrix. They are produced through pultrusion-granulation (granulation process) or online compounding extrusion (direct process) followed by injection molding. The resulting product has an average fiber length ≥3.1 mm, forming a three-dimensional network structure.

The raw materials for automotive long glass fiber reinforced plastics (LGF) are primarily 10–25 mm continuous or semi-continuous alkali-free glass fibers (13–17 µm in diameter). The matrix is selected from thermoplastic resins such as PP, PA6/66, PBT, or ABS, depending on the performance requirements of different parts of the product. It also includes 2–4% maleic anhydride graft compatibilizer, 0.5–0.7% silane coupling agent, and a small amount of antioxidant/heat aging resistant additives. Raw material costs account for approximately 60% of the total cost, with glass fiber yarn costing about RMB 11,500/t, PA6 chips about RMB 14,000/t, and PP chips about RMB 9,000/t. The price difference between resin and glass fiber directly determines the profit margin. Because LGF granules require pultrusion coating or online compounding, the energy consumption during granulation and screw wear increase processing costs by 8–12% compared to short-fiber products.
