Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Automotive Short Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic market size is predicted to grow from US$ 4,257 million in 2025 to US$ 6,549 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.5% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of automotive short glass fiber reinforced plastics reached 1.77 million tons in 2025, with an average price of $2,457 per ton.

Automotive short glass fiber reinforced plastics (SGF materials) are fiber-reinforced plastics made from short-cut glass fibers (0.2–2 mm in length) as the reinforcing phase and thermoplastic resins (PA, PP, PBT, etc.) or thermosetting resins (UP, EP, VE, etc.) as the matrix, produced through melt mixing/molding/injection molding.

Raw materials account for approximately 60% of the total cost of SGF. The average price of fiberglass yarn in 2025 was approximately RMB 11,500/ton. Its upstream components are pyrophyllite, limestone, and quartz sand, with relatively mild price fluctuations. The matrix resins (PP, PA6, PBT) are linked to crude oil prices; in 2025, PA6 chips were RMB 14,000/ton and PP were RMB 9,000/ton, both at recent high levels. Coupling agents, antioxidants, and lubricants account for 3-5% of the formulation, but are sensitive to performance and have weak bargaining power. Therefore, the price difference between resin and fiberglass directly determines SGF's profit margin.
