Overview
Scope of the Report
The global Automotive Tape Base Fabric market size is predicted to grow from US$ 134 million in 2025 to US$ 192 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.3% from 2026 to 2032.
In 2025, the global automotive tape base fabric market reached 311 million square meters, with an average selling price of US$440 per thousand square meters.
Automotive tape base fabric is a fibrous load-bearing and functional material used in automotive adhesive tapes, pressure-sensitive tapes, and wire harness covering tapes. The main product forms include PET or PA woven fabrics, stitch-woven nonwoven fabrics, needle-punched felt, fleece, thermally bonded nonwoven fabrics, and composite textile backing materials. These materials typically undergo dyeing, flame retardancy, calendering, surface activation, anti-fraying, tear resistance adjustment, or pretreatment to ensure dimensional stability, adhesive compatibility, and continuous processing performance during subsequent adhesive coating and slitting processes.
From a product roadmap perspective, ordinary PET stitch-bonded and nonwoven backing materials will continue to meet the needs of wire harness bundling, flexible covering, and basic noise reduction, while high-abrasion-resistant areas will increasingly utilize PET woven fabric, PA woven fabric, or PA fleece. New energy vehicles have increased requirements for high-voltage wire harness identification, heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and flame retardancy, while more complex electronic and electrical architectures have expanded the demand for wire harness management; however, domain controllers, regionalized electronic architectures, and the trend towards wireless technology may also reduce the total length of some low-voltage wire harnesses. Future growth will come more from improvements in the performance and value of materials per vehicle, rather than solely relying on global automobile production. Downstream companies have already promoted new products using recycled PET backing materials, solvent-free adhesives, and automated winding, while upstream base fabric manufacturers need to correspondingly improve roll consistency, low VOCs, traceability of recycled materials, and high-speed conversion performance. In terms of capacity, the industry's annual single-line capacity is approximately 12-14 million square meters, with an average capacity utilization rate of approximately 79.26% and a gross profit margin of 21.8%.
