Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Centrifugal Process Gas Compressor market size is predicted to grow from US$ 10,682 million in 2025 to US$ 16,015 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.0% from 2026 to 2032.

Centrifugal Process Gas Compressor is a dynamic rotating compressor used to compress natural gas, refinery gas, ethylene cracked gas, syngas, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, acid gas, refrigeration gas and other process media. It converts gas velocity energy into pressure energy through high speed impellers, diffusers, return channels or volutes, and is commonly configured as a single shaft multistage, integrally geared, barrel type or horizontally split compressor package with dry gas seals, bearing systems, lubrication systems, anti surge control, intercooling and drivers. The product is mainly used in continuous, high reliability, high flow or high pressure ratio services and serves as critical rotating equipment in oil and gas production and transmission, LNG, refining, petrochemicals, coal chemicals, hydrogen energy, carbon capture, fertilizers, industrial gases and power facilities. Major production origins include the United States, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Japan, China and South Korea. European, American and Japanese manufacturers remain strong in large API engineered trains, high pressure applications and complex gas services, while Chinese suppliers are increasing their presence in refining, coal chemicals, air separation related projects and domestic large scale industrial installations.

In 2025, global Centrifugal Process Gas Compressor production reached approximately 920–1,050 units, while the mainstream FOB factory price was about USD 3.7–4.2 million per unit. Small and medium integrally geared or single stage process gas units were generally priced below the average range, while large API 617 multistage barrel type trains, LNG compressors, and high pressure CO2 or hydrogen compressor packages were usually priced significantly above the average range.

The global Centrifugal Process Gas Compressor market is entering a new stage driven by conventional oil and gas investment, refining and petrochemical upgrading, and energy transition projects. Demand for high reliability compressor trains continues to rise in natural gas processing and transmission, LNG liquefaction and receiving terminals, refinery hydrogenation, ethylene and olefin units, ammonia and methanol, industrial gases, hydrogen production and storage, and CO2 capture and utilization. This is pushing products toward higher efficiency, wider operating flexibility, lower leakage and stronger digital operation and maintenance capabilities. Compared with reciprocating or screw compressors, centrifugal process gas compressors offer advantages in high flow capacity, continuous operation, low vibration and multistage compression, making them particularly suitable for large process plants and critical long cycle gas circuits.

The main market challenges come from strong project based demand, high unit value, long delivery cycles, customized design linked to gas composition, high manufacturing barriers for rotors and impellers, and demanding engineering capabilities for dry gas seals, anti surge control and field commissioning. European, American and Japanese manufacturers maintain advantages in LNG, offshore platforms, high pressure CO2, hydrogen and large refining and petrochemical projects through long operating references, API engineering capabilities and global service networks. Chinese suppliers are growing rapidly in domestic refining, coal chemicals, air separation, fertilizer and industrial gas projects by leveraging cost competitiveness, delivery speed and local service capabilities. Future demand will increasingly come from energy security investment, low carbon refinery retrofits, hydrogen and carbon capture projects, larger chemical parks, and energy saving replacement of installed compressor trains under long term service programs.
