Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Chlorinated Fluorocarbon market size is predicted to grow from US$ 144 million in 2025 to US$ 169 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.4% from 2026 to 2032.

Chlorinated Fluorocarbon (CFC) is a class of halogenated hydrocarbons composed of carbon, chlorine, and fluorine atoms, historically used as refrigerants, aerosol propellants, foam-blowing agents, and cleaning solvents because of their chemical stability, non-flammability, and low toxicity. Typical compounds include CFC-11 (CCl₃F), CFC-12 (CCl₂F₂), and CFC-113. The supply chain begins upstream with basic feedstocks such as methane, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, hydrogen fluoride, chlorine, and fluorspar-derived hydrofluoric acid; these raw materials are processed by fluorochemical producers through halogenation and fluorination reactions to synthesize CFC intermediates and final products. Midstream, large chemical manufacturers purify, blend, and distribute CFC refrigerants or solvent grades. Downstream, the products are used in refrigeration systems, air-conditioning equipment, aerosol manufacturing, foam insulation production, electronics cleaning, and fire suppression systems. Due to their role in stratospheric ozone depletion, global production of CFCs has been largely phased out under the Montreal Protocol, and the industry supply chain has shifted toward substitutes such as Hydrofluorocarbons and Hydrochlorofluorocarbons. In 2025, global Chlorinated Fluorocarbon output was about 25,000 tons with 45,000 tons of capacity, average prices of USD 5,000 – 9,000 per ton, and gross margins around 23%.

Global key Chlorinated Fluorocarbon players cover Chemours (USA), Honeywell (USA), Arkema (France), Koura Global (UK), Daikin (Japan), etc.
