Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Fluorinated Activated Carbon market size is predicted to grow from US$ 28.61 million in 2025 to US$ 56.95 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 10.4% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales volume of Fluorinated Activated Carbon was approximately 45 tons, with a mainstream ex-factory average price of around USD 650/kg. The gross margin of major manufacturers in the industry was approximately 35%–55%.

Fluorinated Activated Carbon is a functional fluorocarbon material produced by using activated carbon as the carbon source and subjecting it to surface fluorination with fluorine gas, fluorine-nitrogen mixed gas, or other fluorinating agents. Its production process typically requires control of fluorination temperature, fluorination time, fluorine-source concentration, and reaction atmosphere, so that fluorine atoms form C-F bonds with the carbon structure on the surface of activated carbon, while preserving as much as possible the original pore structure and high specific surface area of activated carbon. Compared with conventional activated carbon, Fluorinated Activated Carbon features lower surface energy, stronger hydrophobicity, better chemical stability, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance, and demonstrates higher functional value in specific electrochemical and adsorption-separation applications.

The upstream raw materials for Fluorinated Activated Carbon mainly include activated carbon, fluorine gas, fluorine-nitrogen mixed gas, hydrofluoric acid, and other fluorinating agents. The midstream segment involves activated carbon pretreatment, fluorination reaction, post-treatment, classification and screening, and quality inspection. Downstream applications mainly cover new energy battery, environmental treatment, industrial materials, and other fields. In lithium fluorocarbon primary batteries, Fluorinated Activated Carbon can be used as a cathode material; in environmental treatment, it can be used as an adsorption and separation material; and in industrial materials, it can serve as a hydrophobic, anti-corrosion, lubricating, and low-surface-energy functional material. With growing demand for high-specific-energy primary batteries, specialty adsorption materials, and functional fluorocarbon materials, Fluorinated Activated Carbon has certain market expansion potential.

Global key Fluorinated Activated Carbon players cover Shandong Zhongshan Photoelectric Materials, Hubei Zhuoxi Fluorochemical, Shanghai Furui Fine Chemicals, etc.
