Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Fluorine-Based Grease for Electronic market size is predicted to grow from US$ 207 million in 2025 to US$ 335 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.9% from 2026 to 2032.

Global sales of fluorine-based grease for the electronics industry reached 679 tons in 2025, with an average price of $311/kg.

Fluorine-based grease for the electronics industry is a class of high-purity fluorine-based lubricating materials specifically designed for electronic components, semiconductor devices, precision electronic equipment, and consumer electronics. It is made with perfluoropolyether (PFPE) or fluorosilicone oil as the base oil, combined with ultrafine polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) or special fluorinated thickeners. These greases feature extremely low ion content (<10 ppm), high insulation strength (>20 kV/mm), wide temperature range (-60℃ to 250℃), non-flammability, and material compatibility. They provide lifetime maintenance-free lubrication in microelectronics manufacturing, precision electronic assembly, and high-end consumer electronics, avoiding the ion contamination, volatilization loss, and material corrosion problems of traditional greases.

The raw material system of fluorinated greases uses perfluoroolefins as the core monomers, mainly including hexafluoropropylene (HFP) and tetrafluoroethylene (TFE), which are converted into perfluoropolyether base oils through photo-oxidation or anionic polymerization. The thickener uses high-purity polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) micropowder (typically <5μm particle size) and requires special surface treatment to enhance compatibility with the base oil. The additive system includes solid lubricants such as fluorinated graphite and fluorinated mica, as well as antioxidants and rust inhibitors. All components require perfluorination to ensure chemical compatibility. The production process must be carried out in an anhydrous and oxygen-free environment with high cleanliness. The base oil synthesis involves photochemical reactions or high-pressure anionic polymerization, which is complex and results in low yields. The thickening process employs special dispersion technology to ensure uniform suspension of PTFE and prevent phase separation.

In terms of cost structure, raw material costs account for a very high proportion (approximately 70-80%), with perfluoroolefin monomers being expensive (hexafluoropropylene approximately 500,000-800,000 RMB/ton), and the monomer conversion rate during polymerization typically only reaching 60-80%. Among processing costs, energy consumption for photo-oxidation or anionic polymerization, equipment depreciation (requiring Hastelloy reactors resistant to fluorine corrosion), and the use of ultrapure solvents are the main factors.

Global key Fluorine-Based Grease for Electronic players cover DuPont, Chemours, Syensqo, Kluber Lubrication, Huskey, etc.
