Overview
Scope of the Report
The global Furosemide API market size is predicted to grow from US$ 131 million in 2025 to US$ 163 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.2% from 2026 to 2032.
In 2025, global production of furosemide API reached 1,705 tons, with an average selling price of US$78.62 per kilogram.
Furosemide API is prepared by chemical synthesis, without preparation processing, and does not contain any pharmaceutical excipients. It is the basic ingredient of furosemide preparations (such as furosemide tablets, furosemide injection, etc.). Furosemide API is a white or off-white crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter, slightly soluble in ethanol, and almost insoluble in water. It is a potent diuretic that mainly acts on the thick ascending limb of the renal tubular loop of Henle, specifically inhibiting the Na⁺-K⁺-2Cl⁻ symporter on the luminal membrane side of the ascending limb of the loop of Henle, thereby inhibiting the reabsorption of NaCl, reducing the dilution and concentration function of the kidney, and excreting a large amount of urine close to isotonicity, producing a strong diuretic effect. It is often used in clinical practice to treat edematous diseases, hypertension, and prevent acute renal failure and other diseases.
In terms of upstream supply in the furosemide industry chain, core raw materials include 2-furanaldehyde (mainly from China and India), 4-chlorobenzoic acid (supplied by chemical companies in Jiangsu and Zhejiang, China), and ammoniasulfonyl chloride (supplied by Shandong and Hebei, China), with a domestic self-sufficiency rate exceeding 90%. Prices are affected by the chemical industry cycle. Key excipients/auxiliaries such as activated carbon (for decolorization), methanol/ethanol (solvents), hydrochloric acid/sodium hydroxide (acid-base adjustment), and purified water are readily available domestically, accounting for approximately 15% of costs. Technological support covers synthesis process technology (independently developed by domestic universities and enterprises), crystallization/drying technology (mainly domestic equipment, with high-end centrifugal dryers relying on imports from Germany and Japan), and detection technology (import dependence on precision instruments such as GC-MS and LC-MS exceeds 60%). In downstream applications, cardiovascular drugs account for 65%, including furosemide tablets and injections; urinary drugs account for 22%; and liver disease drugs and others account for 13%. In terms of production capacity, the company's single-line annual capacity is 60-80 tons, the industry average capacity utilization rate is approximately 68%, and the average gross profit margin is 18.35%.

All MarketResearchReports.com strategic research reports follow a rigorous, multi-stage methodology combining AI-assisted data synthesis with expert analyst validation.
Systematic collection from 500+ verified sources including SEC filings, industry databases (Bloomberg, Statista, OECD), regulatory filings, trade publications, patent databases, and company annual reports. AI-assisted extraction identifies relevant data points across 10,000+ documents per report.
Dual-validation approach: bottom-up sizing aggregates segment-level production, consumption, and trade data; top-down sizing cross-validates against macroeconomic indicators and total addressable market estimates. Discrepancies >5% trigger analyst review.
Company profiles built from public financial disclosures, product launches, M&A activity, job postings (as capability proxies), and supply chain mapping. Market share estimates triangulated across revenue, capacity, and shipment data.
CAGR projections use time-series regression on 5-10 years of historical data, adjusted for identified demand drivers (technology adoption curves, regulatory catalysts, demographic shifts) and demand inhibitors (cost barriers, substitution risk). Scenario modeling covers base, optimistic, and conservative cases.
All quantitative outputs reviewed by a domain-specialist analyst before publication. Data triangulation requires minimum 3 independent sources for every key figure. Reports undergo a structured peer review against our 47-point quality checklist covering methodology, data citations, logical consistency, and formatting standards.
