Overview

Scope of the Report

The global High Solids Melamine Resin market size is predicted to grow from US$ 337 million in 2025 to US$ 448 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.1% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global sales volume of High Solids Melamine Resin was approximately 115,000 tons, with a mainstream manufacturer-level average price of about USD 3,000 per ton. The gross margin of major manufacturers in the industry was approximately 22%–35%.

High Solids Melamine Resin is a high-solids amino resin crosslinker based on melamine-formaldehyde resin and modified through etherification. It is usually supplied in liquid form, but features high non-volatile content and relatively low solvent content. Its molecular structure contains reactive functional groups such as methoxy, butoxy, imino, and methylol groups. Under baking and acid-catalyzed conditions, it can react with main resins such as acrylic resin, polyester resin, alkyd resin, and epoxy resin to form a dense three-dimensional crosslinked coating film. Compared with conventional low-solids amino resin, High Solids Melamine Resin is more suitable for low-VOC and high-solids coating systems. It offers high crosslinking efficiency, good coating hardness, strong chemical and solvent resistance, as well as favorable gloss and heat resistance, making it an important functional resin material in baking coating systems.

Its upstream raw materials mainly include melamine, formaldehyde, methanol, n-butanol, isobutanol, and other basic chemical feedstocks, as well as acid-base catalysts, solvents, stabilizers, and other auxiliary materials. Among them, melamine and formaldehyde determine the main resin structure, while alcohol raw materials affect etherification type, compatibility, reactivity, and solid content level. Downstream applications mainly include automotive coating, coil coating, can coating, appliance coating, general industrial metal coating, wood baking coating, and specialty coating. The product is usually not used as a standalone film-forming resin, but as a crosslinker used together with main resins to improve coating hardness, weather resistance, heat resistance, stain resistance, and overall mechanical performance.

Global key High Solids Melamine Resin players cover Allnex, BASF, Prefere Melamines, Shreenathji Rasayan, Chang Chun Group, etc.
