Overview
Scope of the Report
The global Photovoltaic Metal Paste market size is predicted to grow from US$ 11,115 million in 2025 to US$ 18,579 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.6% from 2026 to 2032.
Photovoltaic metal paste refers to a functional conductive paste used for the preparation of metallized electrodes in solar cells. It is usually composed of metal powders such as silver powder, aluminum powder, copper powder, glass powder, organic carriers, solvents, and additives. Through processes such as screen printing, sintering, low-temperature curing, transfer printing, or laser assisted metallization, fine grids, main grids, back electrodes, or interconnected conductive structures are formed on the surface of the solar cell. Its main products include front silver paste, back silver paste, back aluminum paste, silver aluminum paste, low-temperature silver paste, copper paste, and silver copper composite paste, which are mainly used in PERC, TOPCon, HJT, IBC, BC, perovskite, and stacked solar cells. The core indicators of photovoltaic metal paste include conductivity, contact resistance, printability, sintering matching, adhesion, welding tension, fine grid forming ability, low silver consumption performance, and long-term reliability. Its performance directly affects battery conversion efficiency, series resistance, yield, and component power generation stability. In 2025, global Photovoltaic Metal Paste production reached approximately 123,502 MT, with an average global market price of around US$ 92 per kg.
The overall development trend of the photovoltaic metal paste market is characterized by "demand growth, technological iteration, decrease in silver consumption, and acceleration of copper based substitution". The growth of global photovoltaic installed capacity and the increase in cell production remain the fundamental driving forces. TOPCon has rapidly increased its demand for high-performance front silver paste, back silver paste, and silver aluminum paste, while the development of HJT and BC cells has driven the upgrading of low-temperature silver paste, highly reliable fine grid paste, and new metallization paste. In the future, positive silver paste will continue to maintain its high-value core position. Low temperature silver paste, driven by HJT batteries, has a high technological threshold. Aluminum paste and silver aluminum paste maintain stable demand in mature battery structures, while copper paste and silver copper composite paste are long-term cost reduction directions.
It is expected that global demand for photovoltaic products will remain high in the next few years. According to our PV & Solar Research Center, by the end of 2022, the global cumulative installed photovoltaic power generation capacity is about 1180 GW. According to the data of China Photovoltaic Industry Association, the global newly installed photovoltaic capacity in 2022 is about 230 GW, and this number in 2023 is predicted to be 280-330 GW. According to the data of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the total output value of China's photovoltaic industry exceeded 1.4 trillion yuan in 2022. From the perspective of production value, mainland China is still the global center of the PV industry. According to the International Energy Agency, China market share in all key products of the supply chain have exceeded 80%. Among them, the production capacity of silicon wafers, solar cells, and components accounts for as high as 98%, 85% and 77%, respectively. According to the data released by the European Photovoltaic Association, 27 EU countries gained a new PV installed capacity of 41.4 GW in 2022. According to the report of the US Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the US held a new PV installed capacity of less than 19 GW in 2022. But it is estimated that from 2023, the average annual growth rate of new photovoltaic installed capacity will exceed 21%. In terms of Japan, based on data from Fitch and the US Energy Information Administration (EIA), in 2022, Japan's newly installed photovoltaic capacity was 3.107 GW.
