Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Pneumatic Fenders market size is predicted to grow from US$ 436 million in 2025 to US$ 572 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 3.9% from 2026 to 2032.

A pneumatic fender (or inflatable fender) is a floating rubber fender that uses compressed air as the elastic medium. It is used during ship-to-berth (STB) or ship-to-ship (STS) berthing, mooring, and loading/unloading operations to absorb collision energy and reduce reaction forces and surface pressure on the hull. Inflatable Fender, usually composed of outer rubber, inner rubber, cord layers, winding rings and flange opening, is an abrasion-resistant rubber fender filled with high pressure air. It can easily be deflated which allows simple and cost effective relocation and re-commissioning in other locations. In 2025, global pneumatic fender production reached approximately 122.07 K Units. The upstream segment of the pneumatic fender industry mainly includes suppliers of natural rubber, synthetic rubber, tire cord fabrics, steel chains, and metal flange components. Rubber formulation and reinforcement technology are the key technical foundations. Downstream applications are concentrated in ports, LNG transportation, offshore oil platforms, FPSOs, and naval vessels, with large tankers and LNG carriers representing major demand sources.

Pneumatic fenders are essential components in global marine engineering and port infrastructure, widely used in vessel berthing, offshore energy transportation, and collision protection for floating structures. Compared with conventional solid rubber fenders, pneumatic fenders offer higher energy absorption, lower reaction force, and superior floating capability, making them particularly suitable for large vessels and offshore installations. Rapid global LNG trade expansion and LNG terminal construction are significantly increasing demand for high-performance pneumatic fenders. Meanwhile, the deployment of VLCCs and ultra-large container ships is accelerating port upgrades worldwide.
