Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Protective Cover Base Fabric market size is predicted to grow from US$ 1,045 million in 2025 to US$ 1,417 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.5% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, the global market for protective cover base fabric reached 190.7 million square meters, with an average selling price of US$5,600 per thousand square meters.

Protective cover base fabric is a flexible roll material primarily composed of woven, knitted, braided, or nonwoven structures made from polyester, nylon, acrylic, polyethylene, polypropylene, cotton blends, glass fiber, or other high-performance fibers. It is manufactured through processes such as solution dyeing, dyeing, water-repellent finishing, polymer coating, calendering, hot-melt lamination, or multi-layer composite. Products are typically designed based on fiber type, fabric structure, yarn denier, warp and weft density, weight, width, coating system, coating amount, tensile strength, tear strength, peel strength, hydrostatic pressure resistance, weather resistance, flame retardancy rating, temperature range, UV resistance, and weldability.

From a demand structure perspective, transportation and cargo coverings remain the largest single application, with demand sources including truck side curtains, flatbed trailer covers, pickup truck bed covers, and rail and air cargo covers. Industrial machinery and equipment covers are characterized by highly dispersed applications, numerous customized specifications, smaller individual orders, but higher customer loyalty. Boat, outdoor furniture, and leisure facility covers are driven by the number of recreational boats, outdoor lifestyles, and replacement cycles; their unit area price is generally higher than that of ordinary industrial tarpaulins. Medical equipment covers, mattress covers, and cleanable sanitary covers emphasize low migration, antibacterial properties, disinfectant resistance, and repeated cleaning, while high-temperature covers require fire resistance, heat insulation, and low smoke performance. In terms of production capacity, the industry's single-line annual capacity is approximately 7-9 million square meters, with an average capacity utilization rate of about 87.63% and a gross profit margin of 17.82%.
