Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Siloxane Powder market size is predicted to grow from US$ 362 million in 2025 to US$ 536 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.8% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global siloxane powder production reached approximately 9729 tons, the average price is 38000 usd/ton. Siloxane powder is a functional additive made by cross-linking or core-shelling polyorganosiloxanes into micro-nano solid particles. The surface is mostly composed of organic groups such as methyl groups, which makes it hydrophobic, heat-resistant, and chemically inert, and it also exhibits smoothness, non-stickiness, and improved flowability. It is often present in the form of dry powder or in combination with silica, and is widely used in coatings, inks, plastics, rubber, and personal care cosmetics to adjust the feel, abrasion resistance, matting effect, and dispersion stability.

Market Concentration and Major Players:

Internationally, the market concentration of siloxane powders is relatively high, mainly concentrated in developed countries in Europe and America. Large manufacturers include Dow, and Wacker. Domestically, however, there is still significant room for growth in the siloxane powder market.

Manufacturing Processes and Market Trends:

The industrial manufacturing of siloxane powders primarily relies on two complementary routes. One is the aqueous emulsion in-situ crosslinking route, where addition-curable liquid siloxane prepolymers are atomized into stable fine emulsions with the help of surfactants. Temperature-controlled platinum-catalyzed crosslinking then transforms each droplet into micron-sized crosslinked PDMS elastomer microspheres. Following demulsification, separation, washing, drying, and air-jet classification, a well-formed, free-flowing powder is obtained. The other is the resin-side solvent route, typically involving MQ silicone resin toluene solution being atomized in a closed loop and sprayed with hot nitrogen to instantly evaporate the solvent and achieve closed-loop recovery. The powder is continuously discharged, then sieved to remove iron and packaged. The main challenge lies not in "producing the powder" but in achieving a narrow particle size distribution, controlled surface energy, and low volatile content residue.

Globally, the pursuit of a silky, matte, and oil-free finish remains the biggest driver of demand in personal care and makeup. However, the EU's strict REACH regulations on low molecular weight cyclic siloxanes are forcing the entire industry to migrate towards compliant high molecular weight linear systems and specifications with lower volatility and greater traceability. The demand for wear resistance, smoothness, and thixotropic adjustment in coatings, inks, and plastics is also pushing the focus of competition to surface modification consistency, brand audit qualifications, and the cost of an integrated silicon supply chain rather than simply the price per ton. The high-end market is still dominated by a few vertically integrated giants who control the synthesis and certification entry points.
