Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Two-Component Solventborne Polyurethane Adhesives market size is predicted to grow from US$ 425 million in 2025 to US$ 617 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.5% from 2026 to 2032.

In 2025, global Two-Component Solventborne Polyurethane Adhesives production reached approximately 96.6k tons, with an average global market price of around US$4.5k per ton.

Two-Component Solventborne Polyurethane Adhesives are reactive polyurethane adhesives supplied as two separate components: a main resin and a curing agent. Organic solvents are used as the dispersion or dissolving medium. The main component is usually a hydroxyl-terminated polyurethane resin or polyester/polyether polyol system, while the curing agent is typically an isocyanate-based crosslinker. After mixing at a specified ratio, the two components react and crosslink to form an adhesive layer with high bonding strength, heat resistance, chemical resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and flexibility. These adhesives are widely used in flexible packaging laminates, aluminum-plastic laminates, paper-plastic laminates, footwear, textile laminates, automotive interiors, electronic protective films, labels, and industrial laminates. Compared with one-component adhesives, two-component systems offer better strength and durability; compared with solvent-free or waterborne adhesives, solventborne products have mature processing technology and strong compatibility with films, foils, paper, and fabrics, but face pressure from VOC emissions and environmental regulations.

The upstream supply chain includes polyester polyols, polyether polyols, isocyanates such as MDI, TDI, HDI, and IPDI, solvents such as ethyl acetate, acetone, and MEK, as well as catalysts, chain extenders, antioxidants, and coupling agents. Representative suppliers include BASF, Covestro, Huntsman, Wanhua Chemical, Evonik, Dow, Mitsubishi Chemical, and Eastman. Midstream companies are adhesive formulators and manufacturers, including Henkel, H.B. Fuller, Bostik, Dow, 3M, Comens Material, Huitian New Materials. Downstream applications include flexible packaging, food packaging, pharmaceutical packaging, personal-care packaging, footwear, automotive interiors, textile laminates, and industrial composites. Representative end users include Amcor, Berry Global, Sealed Air, Tetra Pak, Aptar, Nike, Adidas, Toyota, Volkswagen, BYD, Apple, and Samsung Electronics. Upstream raw materials determine reactivity, bonding strength, and environmental performance, while downstream demand for lightweight, high-barrier, retort-resistant, and industrial laminated materials drives product upgrades.
