Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Whole Plasmid Sequencing market size is predicted to grow from US$ 78.05 million in 2025 to US$ 139 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.7% from 2026 to 2032.

Whole plasmid sequencing is a genome sequencing service based on high-throughput sequencing technology, which is specifically used to sequence and analyze the whole genome of plasmids. Whole plasmid sequencing is mainly based on the second-generation high-throughput sequencing technology, and some service providers also provide sequencing services based on nanopore technology. Both technologies can efficiently and accurately sequence the whole genome of plasmids.

The second-generation high-throughput sequencing technology constructs a whole genome library of plasmids and sequences the library using a high-throughput sequencing platform to obtain a large amount of sequencing data. Then, bioinformatics methods are used to perform quality control, alignment, sequencing depth and coverage statistics, and sequence splicing and assembly on the sequencing data, and finally the full sequence of the plasmid is obtained.

Nanopore sequencing technology is an innovative sequencing method. Its working principle is to pass a strand of DNA through a nanoscale pore, monitor and record the current change spectrum of the nucleic acid chain passing through the nanopore in real time, and identify the characteristic current signals generated by different bases as corresponding bases, thereby reading the nucleic acid sequence. This method has the significant advantages of ultra-long read length and real-time sequencing, and can more accurately sequence complex regions such as high GC content, repetitive regions, and hairpin structures.

The rapid development of next-generation sequencing technology (NGS), such as single-cell sequencing, spatial genomics, and single-molecule sequencing, has further expanded the application scope of whole plasmid sequencing. The combination of artificial intelligence and big data analysis technology has improved the analysis efficiency and accuracy of sequencing data, providing more possibilities for scientific research and clinical applications. For example, a sequencing company has launched a sequencing data analysis platform based on deep learning algorithms, which significantly shortens the data analysis time and improves the accuracy of detection.

As an innovative sequencing technology, nanopore sequencing technology can achieve faster, more accurate, and more convenient sequencing methods. It is not affected by the size or complexity of the plasmid, and can directly measure the whole plasmid, greatly improving the success rate and accuracy of sequencing.

In the fields of precision medicine, gene editing, and synthetic biology, whole plasmid sequencing technology has become an important tool to promote innovation. With the continuous development of these fields, the demand for whole plasmid sequencing is also growing. The design defects and sequence errors of laboratory-made plasmids have also prompted scientific research institutions and enterprises to seek more accurate and efficient plasmid sequencing methods.

Whole plasmid sequencing technology is relatively mature and can realize library construction and sequencing of the whole genome of plasmids. With the development of new technologies such as nanopore sequencing, the accuracy and efficiency of whole plasmid sequencing have been further improved.
