Overview
Scope of the Report
The global Zinc Bromide Solution market size is predicted to grow from US$ 95.49 million in 2025 to US$ 258 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 15.6% from 2026 to 2032.
Zinc bromide solution refers to a liquid mixture that contains zinc bromide (ZnBr2) dissolved in a solvent, typically water. Zinc bromide itself is a chemical compound composed of zinc and bromine, and it can exist in various forms, including solid crystals or solutions. In the context of solutions, zinc bromide is often dissolved in water to form a clear, colorless to yellowish liquid.
Under the guidance of the global "low carbon" goal, energy storage technology has become an important anchor for the development of the new energy industry. In practical applications of energy, energy storage systems can smooth energy fluctuations, achieve smooth and stable energy output, and improve actual energy utilization. They are an important means to make up for the shortcomings of current mainstream zero-carbon new energy technologies. The global lithium-ion battery market scale exceeds 1100.0GWh, and with the further development of electric vehicles and other industries, the global market share of lithium-ion batteries has further increased. However, in the field of energy storage batteries, lithium-ion batteries face the dilemma of declining competitiveness due to their own limitations.
As an energy storage battery that is generally considered to have high potential, zinc-bromine flow batteries have the characteristics of high safety, low cost, long life, easy integration, and easy operation and maintenance. The material cost of zinc-bromine flow batteries is only 20% to 30% of that of lithium-ion batteries, and its operation method also determines that flow batteries have unique advantages in terms of safety. At present, zinc-bromine flow batteries are still in the development stage internationally, and their technical application level is far from the level of lithium-ion batteries. To realize the industrialization of zinc-bromine flow batteries, there are many technical problems to be solved. On the one hand, new materials need to be developed for the electrodes and electrolytes of zinc-bromine flow batteries. Existing materials will produce chemical reactions during use, generating reactants such as zinc dendrites, resulting in low electroplating or even peeling of the zinc anode, reduced Coulombic efficiency, capacity degradation, and serious self-discharge problems, resulting in a waste of resources. On the other hand, in large-size battery scenarios, the stack system also faces the problems of large voltage drop, high efficiency loss, and poor mass transfer within the electrode. To break through the technical bottleneck, it is necessary to collaboratively optimize the flow and mass transfer structures of the stack system so that the flow channel and electrode structure work together to transfer ions and reduce electrolyte pressure.
In recent decades, zinc-bromine flow battery technology has achieved rapid development in the United States, Japan, Australia and other countries. In addition, China"s zinc-bromine flow battery has risen rapidly in recent years and continues to expand its production capacity. Major global representative companies include ZBB Energy, Primus Power, Redflow, China Anchu Energy Storage Group, Anhui Meineng Store Energy System, Shaanxi Huayin Technology, etc., with the rapid development of renewable energy and the promotion and application of smart grids, the market demand for zinc-bromine batteries will gradually increase. In the future, zinc-bromine batteries may be widely used in electric vehicles, smart homes, renewable energy storage and other fields. This also simultaneously stimulates the expansion of the zinc bromide market.
