概述

Scope of the Report

The global 5G SoC Chip market size is predicted to grow from US$ 50,673 million in 2025 to US$ 75,838 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.6% from 2026 to 2032.

A 5G cellular SoC is a system-on-chip or chip platform designed for 5G-enabled terminal devices. It typically integrates an application processor, cellular baseband, AI/NPU, GPU, ISP, multimedia processing, security functions, memory interfaces, sensor interfaces, RF control and power-management interfaces. It supports 5G NR, SA/NSA operation, Sub-6GHz connectivity, mmWave in selected premium products, carrier aggregation, MIMO, power optimization and on-device AI capabilities. This study focuses on 5G cellular SoCs and directly related chip platforms used in smartphones, tablets, 5G CPE, fixed wireless access devices, cellular IoT terminals, RedCap/eRedCap devices, automotive telematics and industrial connected equipment.

Based on our research, the 5G cellular SoC industry has moved beyond a pure connectivity upgrade cycle and is now defined by the integration of 5G modem capability, application processing, on-device AI, graphics, imaging, multimedia, security and power efficiency into a single terminal platform. In the early phase of 5G adoption, the key differentiator was support for 5G NR, SA/NSA dual mode, multi-band connectivity and, in premium products, mmWave capability. The current competitive focus has shifted toward advanced process nodes, AI/NPU performance, modem power efficiency, ISP capability, gaming graphics, satellite connectivity, Wi-Fi 7 coexistence and overall system-level optimization. As a result, 5G SoCs are no longer evaluated only as communication chips; they have become the core computing and connectivity platforms that determine the user experience, device cost structure and product differentiation of smartphones, tablets, CPE, FWA terminals and emerging connected devices. From the supply side, the global 5G smartphone SoC market is highly concentrated. Qualcomm and MediaTek dominate the merchant Android market, while Apple, Google and HiSilicon mainly follow a captive or internal-use model. Samsung sits between these two models, using Exynos primarily within its own Galaxy ecosystem while retaining selected external supply opportunities. Qualcomm’s strength lies in its premium Android position, modem-RF integration, mmWave capability, automotive platform expansion and broad software ecosystem. MediaTek has significantly strengthened its position through the Dimensity portfolio, especially in mainstream, premium-mainstream and selected flagship Android segments. Apple’s self-developed A-series platform, Google Tensor and Huawei HiSilicon Kirin demonstrate that leading device OEMs increasingly view SoC design as a strategic tool for controlling user experience, AI capability, product roadmap and supply-chain independence rather than as a standalone chip revenue business. From the demand side, smartphones remain the largest revenue pool for 5G SoCs, but the growth logic is changing. The first wave of market expansion was driven by 5G penetration and smartphone replacement; the next phase will be driven more by premiumization, AI smartphones, higher imaging requirements, gaming performance, improved energy efficiency and advanced process migration. Outside smartphones, 5G FWA, CPE, mobile hotspots, RedCap, industrial gateways, video surveillance, automotive telematics and private-network terminals are forming a second growth curve. These non-smartphone applications typically have lower unit ASP than flagship mobile SoCs, but they broaden the addressable market and create demand for more cost-efficient, power-optimized and application-specific 5G chip platforms. RedCap and eRedCap are particularly important because they reduce device complexity, cost and power consumption, allowing 5G to expand into mid-speed IoT segments that were previously served mainly by LTE, Wi-Fi or proprietary wireless technologies. From the technology roadmap perspective, the industry’s next stage of competition will be shaped by advanced manufacturing nodes, heterogeneous computing, on-device generative AI, modem-RF integration, low-power baseband design, satellite communication, automotive-grade reliability and software ecosystem depth. Flagship mobile SoCs will continue to compete on CPU, GPU, NPU, ISP and modem performance, while mainstream and entry-level 5G SoCs will compete more on cost, integration, power efficiency and time-to-market. In IoT and industrial markets, vendors that can combine 5G connectivity with long lifecycle support, stable software stacks, module ecosystem partnerships and regional certification capability will have stronger competitiveness. The market will therefore remain structurally concentrated at the high end, while more fragmented and application-specific opportunities will emerge in RedCap, FWA, industrial IoT and vehicle connectivity. Overall, we estimate the global 5G cellular SoC market at approximately USD 51.8 billion in 2025 and USD 55.9 billion in 2026, with a 2026–2032 CAGR of around 5.4%. This outlook reflects a market that is no longer in the explosive early 5G adoption phase, but still has meaningful structural growth from AI smartphones, device premiumization, FWA deployment, RedCap commercialization, automotive connectivity and industrial digitalization. The main risks are smartphone replacement-cycle weakness, high inventory volatility, advanced-node cost inflation, geopolitical supply-chain constraints and the uncertainty of RedCap adoption speed. Over the medium term, the competitive landscape will remain led by Qualcomm, MediaTek, Apple, Samsung, HiSilicon and UNISOC in mobile devices, while Sequans, ASR and selected cellular IoT specialists will participate in narrower but faster-developing 5G IoT niches.
