Overview

Scope of the Report

The global Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) Photoresist market size is predicted to grow from US$ 2,009 million in 2025 to US$ 3,013 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.3% from 2026 to 2032.

Deep Ultraviolet (DUV) photoresist is a core segment of semiconductor photoresists. It is a photosensitive pattern-transfer material used in KrF 248 nm and ArF 193 nm deep ultraviolet exposure processes for semiconductor wafer manufacturing. It mainly includes KrF photoresist, ArF dry photoresist, and ArF immersion photoresist. It is used to form fine circuit patterns on silicon wafer surfaces and serves the manufacturing of logic chips, memory devices, advanced packaging, and other semiconductor devices. In wafer manufacturing, DUV photoresist works together with DUV lithography equipment, photomasks, developers, and subsequent processes such as etching or ion implantation to transfer circuit patterns onto wafer surfaces with high precision. As integrated circuit linewidths continue to shrink, the exposure wavelength of semiconductor photoresists has gradually evolved from broadband ultraviolet to g-line, i-line, KrF, ArF, and EUV. Generally, the shorter the exposure wavelength, the higher the achievable resolution.

DUV photoresist is a core segment of semiconductor photoresists, with both a solid market base and resilient demand. Although the most advanced process nodes are moving toward EUV, DUV photoresist still covers a wide range of mature nodes, advanced mature nodes, memory manufacturing, and other process steps, giving it broader application coverage. Since wafer manufacturing is not driven solely by the most advanced nodes, sectors such as automotive electronics, industrial control, and communication chips still require large volumes of stable and reliable DUV lithography processes. Therefore, DUV photoresist will not shrink rapidly because of EUV expansion, but will continue to maintain steady growth as a fundamental material category in semiconductor manufacturing. The key driver of future growth in DUV photoresist comes from the increasing complexity of wafer manufacturing. As chip structures become more refined, each wafer needs to go through more pattern-transfer steps, while the requirements for lithography layers, overlay accuracy, defect control, and process windows continue to rise. This increases the usage intensity of DUV photoresist per wafer. Memory structure upgrades and multiple-patterning processes will further amplify demand for DUV photoresist, meaning its growth will come not only from wafer fab capacity expansion, but also from more process steps, material performance upgrades, and higher requirements for reliable manufacturing. DUV photoresist remains a high-barrier electronic material market. These products have extremely high requirements for resins, photoacid generators, high-purity solvents, metal ion control, and other key factors. Material suppliers usually need to go through long-term validation with wafer fabs before entering mass-production supply systems. Domestic wafer fabs’ demand for DUV photoresist is still increasing, while high-end products are still mainly controlled by a small number of overseas suppliers. Therefore, domestic suppliers still have significant opportunities for import substitution in the future.
