概述

Scope of the Report

The global Sputtering Target and Evaporation Material market size is predicted to grow from US$ 6,848 million in 2025 to US$ 10,428 million in 2032; it is expected to grow at a CAGR of 6.2% from 2026 to 2032.

Sputtering targets and evaporation materials are source materials used in physical vapor deposition (PVD) processes to form functional thin films of metals, alloys, ceramics, compounds, and organic materials. Sputtering targets are bombarded with high-energy plasma ions within a vacuum chamber, sputtering surface atoms and depositing them onto wafers, glass, metals, polymers, or other substrates. The main forms include planar targets, rotating targets, circular targets, ring targets, and bonded targets. Evaporation materials are evaporated or sublimated through resistance heating, induction heating, or electron beam heating, and are typically supplied in granules, pellets, blocks, sheets, wires, rods, powders, or custom shapes. Product material systems include high-purity metals such as aluminum, copper, titanium, tantalum, tungsten, molybdenum, silver, and gold; various metal alloys; ITO, IGZO, AZO; oxides, nitrides, fluorides, and chalcogenides; and organic evaporation materials for OLEDs, photovoltaics, and optoelectronic devices. Downstream applications cover semiconductors and advanced packaging, flat panel displays and OLEDs, photovoltaics, optical devices, data storage, architectural and automotive glass, tool coatings, and decorative coatings. This report excludes PVD equipment, copper backplates, steel rotating target tubes, process gases, evaporation boats and crucibles, ALD and CVD precursors, conductive pastes, and separately sold waste targets and recycled metals. Global shipments of sputtering target and evaporation material are projected to reach approximately 40,000 tons in 2025, with a combined FOB equivalent price of approximately US$175,000 per tonne and a gross margin of approximately 18% to 30%.

The global sputtering target and evaporation material market is shifting from traditional display, optics, and industrial coating demands to a market driven by advanced semiconductors, AI computing power, advanced memory, advanced packaging, high-end OLEDs, and high-efficiency photovoltaics. Advanced logic, HBM, power semiconductors, and wafer-level packaging have increased the variety and deposition cycles of copper, tantalum, titanium, cobalt, tungsten, ruthenium, and complex alloy thin films, placing stricter requirements on purity, grain size, texture, gas content, and particle control. The increasing penetration rate of OLEDs is driving demand for high-purity organic light-emitting, transport, and injection materials, while photovoltaics, low-emissivity glass, and automotive dimming glass are propelling the continued expansion of large-size planar and rotating targets. Market risks primarily stem from raw material prices, technological substitution, and customer certification cycles. Price fluctuations in materials such as indium, tantalum, cobalt, ruthenium, iridium, silver, and gold directly alter sales revenue and gross profit margins; revenue growth in some precious metal businesses does not necessarily translate into a corresponding increase in processing profits. Semiconductor and display customers typically require lengthy sampling, installation, yield, and reliability certification processes. Suppliers also bear the quality risks associated with target cracking, nodules, particles, abnormal discharge, and uneven film thickness. Some traditional PVD films may be replaced by ALD, CVD, electroplating, or electrodeposition-free methods. Improved target recycling and material utilization will also reduce the consumption of virgin materials per unit output. Downstream demand will exhibit three trends: high purification, large-scale production, and closed-loop processing. The semiconductor market will increasingly utilize 5N to 6N metals, low-alpha materials, and specialized alloys; the display, photovoltaic, and glass markets will increase the proportion of rotating targets, high-density ceramic targets, and targets for high-generation lines; OLED and precision optics will expand their procurement of sublimation-grade organic materials, oxides, and fluoride vapor deposition materials. Procurement models will also shift from single-purchase material purchases to long-term certification, equipment and process collaboration, target recycling, and closed-loop management of precious metals. Companies with integrated capabilities in high-purity raw materials, material preparation, precision machining, bonding, testing, and recycling will achieve higher customer loyalty.
